The method for operating a spray gun without a cup primarily involves key steps such as adjusting air pressure, controlling spray distance and angle, and mastering movement speed. This technique is suitable for spraying operations directly connected to paint hoses or pressure tanks.
Operating Steps
Connect the air source and paint source.
Connect the spray gun's air inlet to compressed air (filtered through an oil-water separator). Typically adjust air pressure to 0.45-0.5 MPa. If using a pressure tank for paint supply, ensure the paint line is sealed and leak-free.
Adjust Spray Parameters.
Spray Pattern Adjustment: Rotate the spray pattern screw clockwise for a circular spray pattern or counterclockwise for a fan-shaped pattern. Adjust width as needed. 1. Paint Flow Adjustment: Turn the flow screw clockwise to reduce flow rate, counterclockwise to increase flow rate.
Air Pressure Adjustment: Adjust according to paint viscosity, typically maintaining 0.3-0.4MPa. Excessive pressure may cause sagging, while insufficient pressure may result in poor atomization.
Spraying Operation.
Hold the spray gun perpendicular to the surface at a distance of 15-30 cm (slightly closer for fast-drying paints, slightly farther for slow-drying paints).
Move the gun parallel to the surface at 20-30 cm/s, overlapping each pass by one-third to prevent missed spots or buildup.
Trigger Control: Lightly pull the trigger to release air and clear dust, then fully pull to spray paint.
Precautions
Safety precautions: Wear a mask and goggles during operation. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Coating compatibility: Airless spray guns require low-viscosity coatings to prevent nozzle clogging. Filter impurities before use.
Immediate cleaning: Flush the gun interior with thinner immediately after use to prevent paint solidification and blockage.
Maintenance Recommendations
Regularly inspect nozzle and needle valve wear; replace damaged components.
Store away from acids and alkalis; keep dry.
